Mauricio Pochettino is getting set to make call-ups for his third camp in charge of the USMNT. The January camp is typically a different range of call-ups compared to the others. In January, there is no international break and MLS is one of the only leagues in the middle of their offseason. Making this camp an opportunity for MLS players to get a crack at the national team level and see if their talents are near the expectations set for international duty.

What makes this camp exciting for Charlotte FC fans is multiple Charlotte players could get a call-up in January. Here are three potential candidates worth shouting out:

Andrew Privett

Andrew Privett (24) seems to be the most likely candidate. The center-back has 52 starts in all competitions since being picked in the 2023 SuperDraft, becoming an every-game starter in 2024. The amount of progression Privett and Charlotte's defense as a whole made this past year gives the former Penn State Nittany Lion a good chance to be selected for his debut USMNT camp. His 2024 season was successful enough for MLSSoccer's Matt Doyle to predict he will get a call-up next month.

If Privett does get called up and can put up a solid performance things could get interesting for him as center-back is a position of need on the USMNT roster.

Patrick Agyemang

Patrick Agyemang (24) is another Charlotte player Doyle predicted to get a call-up in January. Agyemang had 13 goal contributions (10g/3a) in his first full season playing with the First Team after being selected 12th in the 2023 SuperDraft.

His highlight one-on-one finishes have been making the rounds in MLS media circles and he also had a fancy chip-in goal ruled narrowly offside in Game Three of Charlotte's series versus Orlando City. A game in which Pochettino attended. He is an exciting MLS prospect who could have an opportunity to start 2025 with a bang in January.

Nimfasha Berchimas

Nimfasha Berchimas (16) seems destined to be given an opportunity with the USMNT sooner rather than later. This January camp might be too soon, but he could easily be in the discussion. Berchimas made his MLS debut during the 2024 season but spent most of the year with their development team, Crown Legacy FC. He was just on trial with Manchester United's U18s, where reports suggest that trial was a success. His most recent USYNT call-up was in November where he was the only player born in 2008 called up to the U19 level during that camp.

Currently one of the top prospects in the USYNT player pool, Berchimas' USMNT debut is likely coming soon. But does soon mean January 2025?
